TERMS AND CONDITIONS

CHOICE ASSORTED FESTIVE SEASON CAMPAIGN COMPETITION

  1. This Bakers Choice Assorted Festive Season Campaign Competition (“Competition”) is organised and conducted by National Brands Limited, a subsidiary of AVI Limited (a public company registered in the Republic of South Africa) including their affiliates, partners, associations and agents.

 

  1. The Competition starts on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 and ends on Saturday, 31 January 2026. Entries received after the indicated closing date will not be considered.

 

WHO CAN ENTER?

  1. Participants must be 18 (eighteen) years or older and have a valid identity document or passport and reside in the Republic of South Africa during the period of the Competition (“Participants”/”you”/”your”). Participants under the age of 18 (eighteen) years must be fully assisted by their parent/legal guardian, who approves of and consents to the Participant’s participation in the Competition and the Participant’s receipt/possession of a prize.

 

  1. Participants may not enter or receive a prize if they are directors, members, partners, employees, agents of or consultants of the Promoter, their subsidiaries, holding companies, divisions and/or associated companies; or of the advertising or promotion agencies or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the Promoter, or their spouses, life partners, immediate family members or business partners.

 

  1. By entering this Competition, all Participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, and the Promoter’s decision regarding any issue with the Competition will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

 

HOW TO ENTER

  1. To enter the Competition Participants need to:

 

  1. Buy any 1 kilogram or 2 kilogram pack of Bakers Choice Assorted biscuits (“Qualifying Products”);
  2. Find a Golden Ticket inside any 1 of 1 814 randomly selected packs of the Qualifying Products;
  3. Each Golden Ticket will reflect a Prize;
  4. Scratch “Reveal to Find” the unique code on the Golden Ticket;
  5. Send the unique code by USSD line and claim the Prize.

 

  1. Participants are responsible for their own costs of purchasing the Qualifying Products.

 

  1. Only entries that comply with all the entry criteria will be accepted.

 

  1. The Promoter has no responsibility for ensuring that Participants are given the chance to enter the Competition.

 

PRIZES

  1. The Prizes that can be won are the following:

 

 

  1. R1 million in cash allocated as follows:

 

  • 1 (one) cash Prize of R10 000.00 (Ten Thousand Rand);
  • 2 (two) cash Prizes of R5 000.00 (Five Thousand Rand) each;
  • 150 (one hundred and fifty) cash Prizes of R1 000.00 (One Thousand Rand) each;
  • 1 660 (one thousand six hundred and sixty) cash Prizes of R500.00 (Five Hundred Rand) each; and

 

  1. 1 (one) prize of Bakers® products to the value of R15 000.00 (Fifteen Thousand Rand), awarded in accordance with clause 23 below.

 

  1. The Prizes are not transferable or negotiable.

 

  1. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prizes for alternative Prizes of equal or greater value should the Prizes not be available due to unforeseen circumstances.

 

  1. The Prizes do not cover any costs of the winners whatsoever.

 

DETERMINATION OF WINNERS AND AWARDING OF PRIZES

  1. 1 814 (one thousand eight hundred and fourteen) packs of the Qualifying Products will randomly contain a Golden Ticket that will entitle the Participant to win one of the Prizes as identified on the Golden Ticket.

 

  1. The cash Prizes will be awarded as follows:

 

  1. For cash Prizes of R500.00 (Five Hundred Rand) or R1 000.00 (One Thousand Rand), winners will:

 

  • receive a message after sending through their unique code, congratulating them and telling them to be on the lookout for an SMS on how to redeem their Prize;
  • receive an SMS with a withdrawal PIN to enable them to withdraw the cash Prize at an ABSA ATM.

 

  1. For cash Prizes of R5 000.00 (Five Thousand Rand) or R10 000.00 (Ten Thousand Rand), winners will:

 

  • receive a message after sending through their unique code, congratulating them and telling them to expect a telephone call to explain how to redeem their Prize;
  • receive a telephone call on the cellular number used to enter the Competition;
  • be required to provide the Promoter’s Agency with a copy of their identity document and confirmation from their bank of their bank account details;
  • receive payment via electronic funds transfer directly to their bank account once the Agency has completed the verification process.

 

  1. SMS’s will be sent to winners on the cellular numbers used by them to enter the Competition. Cash withdrawals will be tracked for audit purposes.

 

  1. The Bakers® products Prize will be awarded monthly over a 12-month period, starting from February 2026 at a monthly value of R1 250.00 (One Thousand Two Hundred and

 

 

Fifty Rand). The products will be selected by the Promoter and delivered to the winner by pre-paid courier. The mix of products will be entirely at the Promoter’s discretion.

 

  1. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse to award a Prize in the event that they reasonably believe, in their sole discretion, that: (i) a winner is not eligible to win; (ii) a winner has contravened any of these terms and conditions; (iii) a winner has acted in a manner that is not in the spirit of the Competition; (iv) a winner’s conduct can be reasonably interpreted as scamming or circumventing the rules of the Competition; (v) a winner has acted fraudulently with regards to the Competition; or (vi) it would be unlawful to award the prize. In these instances, the winner will be disqualified and forfeit the prize. The Promoter’s decision shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

 

  1. The Promoter reserves the right to announce the winners’ names publicly or on such electronic sites as it may choose, including but not limited to the Promoter’s websites and social media pages, or on radio. Entry into this Competition is deemed to be consent by Participants to announce their names publicly.

 

PUBLICITY AND DATA PRIVACY

  1. Save as otherwise provided in clause 24, winners have the right to decline permission to use their name or image in marketing material or participate in any marketing activity, failing which the Promoter has the right to use their name or image in marketing material or any marketing activity without any liability to the Promoter or remuneration due to the winners.

 

  1. By entering, a Participant acknowledges that personal information about the Participant will be shared with the Promoter and their agents to the extent necessary to conduct the Competition and for Prizes to be delivered to winners.

 

  1. Should the Participant have elected to receive marketing communication from the Promoter and other AVI Limited Group brands, the Participant’s contact details will form part of the Promoter’s database and they will receive marketing communication on, including but not limited to, upcoming promotions, competitions and offers related to AVI Limited Group brands. The Participant’s personal information will be shared with the AVI Limited Group brands and their agents to the extent necessary to ensure they receive this communication either via email or SMS, and for Prizes to be delivered to winners, for example. Should a Participant wish to remove their details from this database at any stage, please select the opt-out option made available to you or contact the Promoter’s consumer care line.

 

  1. Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for either the Participant or the Promoter in terms of the law of the Republic of South Africa should any terms or conditions be found to be in conflict with any laws, they will be severable from the remaining terms and conditions contained herein.

 

GENERAL

  1. All publicity and other materials will be the sole property of the Promoter.

 

 Please note that the following terms require you to take on risk, limit the liability of the Promoter and indemnify the Promoter. Please read them carefully and contact the Promoter if you have any questions!

 

 

  1. The Promoter reserves the right to shorten, extend, suspend the time period of the Competition or terminate the Competition whenever it should so choose for technical, commercial, or operational reasons, or for reasons beyond its control. The Competition, its Prizes, and terms and conditions may be amended by the Promoter, at any time during the Competition for reasons beyond its control. Any changes to the Competition, including termination thereof, will be communicated to Participants. In such an event, all Participants waive any rights that they may have/purport to have in terms of this Competition, and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against the Promoter whatsoever.

 

  1. To the fullest extent permitted by law, by participating, the Participant indemnifies, releases and agrees to hold harmless the Promoter, their associated, holding and subsidiary companies, and its directors, officers, agents, representatives, shareholders, employees, successors and assigns from any and all claims or liability arising from participating in the Competition, any Competition-related activity and/or acceptance, receipt, possession or use/misuse of any prize.

 

  1. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter will not be liable in any way whatsoever, for any claims arising from loss, injury, damage or costs, suffered by a Participant in relation to this Competition or the Prizes offered, including but not limited to claims relating to defects in the Prizes or any losses caused by such defects or losses arising from incorrect or inaccurate information supplied by Participants.

 

  1. The Promoter will not be liable for any loss suffered as a result of incomplete or incorrect information provided.

 

  1. The laws of the Republic of South Africa shall govern these competition terms and conditions.
